Can you guess what the spiralling object is made from? Look a little bit closer…they’re cotton buds! The mini-sculpture arose from a project brief to design an object using the same element repeatedly. I chose cotton buds (because they were everyday objects, cheap and easily purchased) and wired them together. The result was a skeletal and surprisingly flexible spiral that stretched and moved to give different forms. It’s amazing how small, simple objects can be assembled to create entirely new objects.
