Henna Art

I was at an Indian Festival a few weekends ago, and got my very first henna tattoo! I’ve been obsessed with it ever since (the image above shows the henna design I recently got on my arm). Henna is basically a non-permanent, staining dye that is easy to apply and easy to design with. The trick to good henna design is repetition and symmetry. If you’re confident at drawing, then why not give it a go?

BEFORE

The henna goes on like a thick paste, and releases colour as it dries. The longer you leave it on, the deeper the colour. Dabbing a lemon and sugar mix on top also keeps the henna working for longer. Here’s what it looks like after the paste comes off…
